When is Cancer season?

The Sun does not enter Cancer at midnight on the same civil date everywhere. The boundary is an astronomical moment, while a date table is a simplified calendar guide.
One sign equals thirty degrees
Western tropical astrology divides the ecliptic into twelve equal 30-degree signs beginning at 0° Aries. Cancer occupies 90° through just under 120° in that coordinate system.

Degrees inside Cancer
The first third covers 0°–9°59′ Cancer, the middle third 10°–19°59′, and the final third 20°–29°59′. Traditional decan systems add nuance, but the exact degree comes from a calculated chart—not from dividing a generic date range evenly.
A late-degree Cancer Sun is still a Cancer Sun. Being near Leo does not blend two sun signs automatically; other placements may explain why both descriptions feel familiar.
What “on the cusp” should mean
If a birthday falls near the transition from Gemini to Cancer, or from Cancer to Leo, enter the birth year, time, and location in a natal chart calculator. Those details convert the civil birth time to one instant and calculate the Sun’s actual longitude.
If the birth time is unknown, the Sun can usually still be identified; only on a narrow boundary window may the time decide the answer.
